I had no idea you ran cross country in high school. I’m never running with you again. Yet, you’ve inspiring thoughts of running I never had before. Mainly, why do I run?

I always thought it was to keep my lonjas down, but something has happened over the course of the last eight months that has reshaped my idea of running. I truly believe there are things I’m exposed to when I’m out sweating that I wouldn’t be exposed to otherwise. I get most of my photography ideas from my runs. “Oh. I need to come back and photograph that.” Probably wouldn’t capture as much as I do if it weren’t for the routes I take. Also, I find that running in a new city every month helps establish my rhythm there. I don’t feel homesick when I’m running. In fact, I feel like a local when I’m jetting around street corners, hopping over dog shit and sprinting down a curbside.
