In Italy there is a subculture of translators who subtitle Lost and then post them as bittorrent files. This has been a savior for me because US Websites block Italian ISPs from viewing their sites, so I don't get to watch the show on the Web. Moreover, since my partner is Italian now we are able to watch it together because of the subtitles. All I can say is THANK YOU to all these fan translators for enabling me to see Lost in Italy.

I wish I am more proficient in Spanish. I'd love to do translation work. I can do it between English and Malay, but I would love to do it between English and Spanish too.

I noticed The Extraordinaries at the WeMedia09, as they win the $25000 prize, though I don't think it's feasible in the near future unless they can increase smart phone penetration. I wonder how many smart phones they can buy with the prize. Can I register? hehe

It's a little dated, but this post by H. Casciari can provide inspiration for anyone to translate and keep the culture train rolling.
