Update: The Blog Map is now working as it should be. You can use the transparent buttons on the bottom of the map to zoom in and out and pan.
As promised, I have a gift for everyone.
I made it using Mikel Maron’s WorldKit. I really like how you can zoom and pan. So when you first load the page it looks like HP, Karen, Chris, and I all live in the same house, but when you zoom in much closer to San Diego you see that Karen and I are much closer to each other while HP’s a little east and Chris is further down South.
You can also zoom out and check out other bloggers I read in other countries. Sadly, this so far is Julio. But more will be added soon. And I’m thinking about using WorldKit’s new JavaScript API to let other people add blogs, links, and avatars as they’d like, but that might just be a waste of time.
Anyway, I thought it would be cool for us to finally have a better idea of where we all are writing from. There are lots more blogs and bloggers to be added, but I wanted to start with the people who have been commenting the most recently. So once again, here’s a link to the map.
The other thing I added to the blog tonight is a plugin which tells you what new comments have been written since you last visited. Since I just added the plugin, you should click on “mark all comments read” and then it’ll start keeping track for you.
I gotta stop going to sleep at three in the morning.

Tell me about it!!!
dude this is awesome!
Ai hombre, you are moving to Mexico in a few days and you take the time to make us this incredible regalote? Thank you! It’s awesome and I can’t wait to link to it from my site ~ I’ll look forward to you adding more bloggers. Ai, I”m getting all sentimental now, remembering the time I visited DisneyWorld as a kid and went on the “It’s A Small World After All” ride … ~
Chido/Awesome!
I need a little symbol, though. I need to find my donkey from before.
I am not on the map. Is it because I am gay? Is it because I am REALLY Mexican? Is it because I am too cute for it??? WHY? WHY? I need to know…
awww Seydsito, I love you even if El Oso doesn’t. El Oso is a motherfucker , anyway.
That’s cool. Gracias por el regalo.
I like the locational mapping–yikes, look where I am … (sorry, I shouldn’t reproduce the negative stereotypes of my current home)
Thanks Oso
Je! Qué pinche cool mapa ese, am glad to form part of the blogsfera you make rounds to and thanks for taking the time to incluce me in the map…Saludos desde Suecia.
Elena, niña, que boquita eh…. I’m now on the map! yay! Gracias Osillo.
Way cool! Now I’m thinking about the possible ways I could play around with my own map.
I’m glad you guys like it, but really all the credit goes to Mikel … I gotta remember to email him and thank him for putting so much time into WorldKit and then making it free. And just like I knew he would, he’s already put together a script to query Google Maps. All this stuff has so much potential it’s ridiculous.
Seyd, you’ve got it. You weren’t included because you are Mexican, gay, cute, and I’m a motherfucker. On top of that, at 3 a.m. I forgot to close a tag in the xml file that feeds the Flash movie.
Xolo, I added your burrito.
No we just gotta get Mari, Thivai, Julio, and Wooj to sign up for Gravatars.
And if you wanna see your gravatar show up somewhere else, go comment on Xolo’s blog. (just don’t tell him you eat chicken).
There are many more blogs I want to add to this list, but the problem is everyone lives in the same cities. So, for example, I know Louis and Liza both live in NYC (along with Elenita and Moreno), but I don’t know who lives where and how to separate them.
And then we’ve got Austin. I read four bloggers in Austin (Daily Texican, Nick Lewis, Elizabeth, and Prentiss Riddle), but I don’t know where exactly any of them live.
Meanwhile, Idaho and Montana are looking pretty lonely along with most of the rest of the world. It’s obvious I’ve been practicing geographic discrimination for some time and it’s time to begin an aggressive campaign of affirmative action.
Whoaaaaaaaa!
‘Kewl’ Dude!
You need to add more ‘centralized’ members to this blog thingy of yours! hee hee! just playin’.
stop putting up those extreme closeups of me on your flickr.
Oso,
Thanks for putting my ass on your map.
I also went and got a gravatar for myself. I am becoming semi-literate with these online gadgets. Not bad for an anthropologist.
And I have no problem with people eating chicken - as long as they think about who worked to make that chicken available to them. Especially if it is from Tyson (by the way, Tyson makes all kinds of meat products).
cool. shit, i just found some more folks (save liz) in austin. thx.
Oso ~ it is 1 am and I am here online stumbling around on gravatar because of you! ~
~ this is cool ~ I signed up for a gravatar….I think….I don’t understand all these hi-tech things you whiz-kids create! Hopefully, my gravatar will get approved or whatever and I can join in….I just used my boring pic tho from my blog…ah well…we can’t all be that creative at 1 am like you hombre!
