Jason,

Great idea. I'm surprised that more Peace Corps Volunteers don't blog. Have you thought about using software like CivicSpace for the site?

Last week I built and launched a new blogging site for Peace Corps volunteers called Third Goal. Peace Corps volunteers are invited to create a free account.

Sincerely,
Jason Pearce of Third Goal

Oso your insights are right on the money and your suggestions are really good. Bloggercorps needs time, thought, perseverance, and the right tools in order to work well. And you're right about everybody being overstretched with too many projects. I myself will either have to find a way to devote the time and energy needed to get this thing off the ground, or hand over leadership to somebody who is able to.

David, you rock.

I cannot leave a detailed answer to this at the moment but will ping you very, very soon.

It's the holidays, so blogging has been overtaken by wrapping of both presents and projects.

Thanks for this thoughtful post. I've been trying to work out what I think is the hurdles this effort will have to overcome.

One of them, quite frankly, is the format. Nonprofits who don't have the savvy to set-up their own blog may not come across this blog-based outreach effort. Additionally, it seems that nonprofits will need a tangible reason to engage.

I think this dovetails with the kinds of issues you are referring to.
