Can we do it at a beach house in southern Cali?

Well I stumbled upon this page looking for an old friend and as I read through your blog I found your intellectual take on religion (something spiritual) being parallel to politics (something generally based on the mundaness of human existence) an interesting way to say- can't we all just get along. The truth is most of humanity operates on the same basis, and the ironic thing is that all of us going around judging one another and at our core we all just want to be accepted for who we are. So the simple solution is to accept everyone for who they are (republican or not-which I also think is a personality flaw but I don’t condemn them for it I just try help them see the light) without judgment. I know your probably saying easier said than done, but not really it’s simple to accept someone and all of their flaws if you can accept yourself and all your flaws. As my mama always says love the sinner, hate the sin (and yeah I think voting republican is a sin).

One thing I have to ask the dreadlocked ones, don’t you think quickly judging someone on their political beliefs is the same as someone judging you by your hair? Do you represent everything those dreadlocks do? Do you know lockless ones that represent the dreadlock life more than those with locks? My point is a label is not all inclusive and if often improperly applied, so don’t rely on those instant associations to decipher your conclusions….

Because I helped put in one of you dready boys dreads and I would be sad to think he wasn’t properly representing, which reading through this blog he appears to be the voice of reason and tolerance so big ups to my boy Eli. Which is why I am here Aloha Eli, it’s your old school cruzin Kauai roll dog….you know the crazy loud one that worked at mermaids and the coffee shop….haha did u guess yet…Its Jen V. so when you get a chance hit me back at looking4jenv@yahoo.com we got some catchin up to do, I live on Maui now so if you still coming out the islands every summer u best be stopping by Maui! Good to see u still fighting the good fight and mahala back at ur girl! Much loves and all u all keep up the good conscious minded discussing of the issues.

oh eli -- hahahahahaha -- laughter is the key to happiness -- and we both know i apologized plenty of time to that repub. And i dont think being republican is personality flaw -- their are republicans I admire and respect. It's more the ppl who so faithfully and blindly follow Bush -- its those ppl who i think have a, as u, or i guess I like to say "personality flaw" -- and another thing, democrats, or people who lean left or centered are more accepting of others in my opinion -- which is why republicans are much better politicians, just listen to zell miller at www.hardball.msnbc.com. Like i said before though, i do apologize and obviously i was just drunk that night-- and for those bushies out there -- come on in, i've been waiting. we'll have a nice discussion on the topics, not the parties -- and speaking of parties, we'll get some beer too,

Just to add one mroe thing -- i just read oso's full passage and its not that i realy identify with the dems -- it's simply they are the only alternative. Do you I really think there are hardlining divided between dems and repub - not really -- Especially now, I dont really see how kerry's plan for iraq is all the different than bush and how he actaully palns on forming a coalition -- I guess just through his presence is his plan. Anyways, the two things that get me are over 10,000 dead civilians in iraq and No gov't funds towards stem cell research. Scientist used to come to America to puruse thier endeavors -- now they go to europe. I agree with Chris though and wish i just didn't feel so strongly about certain issues. -- thats my 2 cents -- i'll add 2 more when i can't find another dead end to the internet.

Just another note, my own experience has been that the closest that politics and spirituality get is a protest - where you have a connection with a large number of other people.

I don't like Bush in power because almost everything he does (anti-environment, high deficit, pre-emptive war, wealth divide, etc) goes against what I believe. Are my views my new religion? I think that argument could be made. But my most spiritual moments have been little things in life, completely unrelated to my views. Listening to an old man hum on the trolley - it was a beautiful moment. That for me is spiritual. Arguing about fuel efficiency or some crap is just draining work that I sometimes wish I didn't feel strongly about.
