Local San Diego Blogger Scott Koenig was on our NPR affiliate today talking with Dennis Stout and San Diego Union Tribune foreign affairs columnist, Jim Goldsborough about memories of the Vietnam War and the current predicament in Iraq.
Here’s what Indepundit wrote on his blog afterwards:
The Last Word
JAMES GOLDSBOROUGH’S closing statement, from Thursday’s These Days program on KPBS:
I really object to the use of the word “terrorism.” Were the Minutemen in this country terrorists? When you have a foreign country coming over and occupying your country illegally, and you resent that occupation, when you resist it, like the French resisted the Germans – are you a terrorist? Or, are you a freedom fighter? Are you an insurgent? Are you a guerilla?
What would Americans do, if a foreign country had invaded us, and tried to impose their government on us? And (if) we resisted it – would I be a terrorist? No, I don’t think so. And I don’t regard these people, who are opposing an illegal war, as terrorists either.
It’s a good thing he had the last word, because that left me speechless.
I thought Goldsborough’s comments were interesting, but the commenters on Indepundit’s blog clearly do not agree.
I’ve learned a couple things these past few days. First, most of the more politically inclined bloggers here in San Diego are conservative. Second, despite the Union Tribune’s conservative editorial board, they still hire the full spectrum of columnists.

you know, i actually haven’t read the book yet. so, i can’t compare the film to the diaries. oh well.
