I’ve been meaning to write about the recent immigration discussion (or lack thereof) for a while now. But I’ve been meaning to write about a billion things lately so instead I’ll copy this from Save Our Centro’s event calendar:

Fronteras: Realidades y Resistencia
Borders: Realities & Resistance
Photography by Karina Muñiz at Chicano Perk Cafe

On October 2 thousands will march in San Ysidro, Califas against the 10th year of Operation Gatekeeper, a hyper militarized initiative that has been extended under different names throughout the US-Mexico border region. By the end of the summer months, at least 3000 men, women, & children will have died trying to make their way across the border since the implementation of Gatekeeper in 1994. Join us on Tuesday, August 31 to learn more about how militarization impacts our communities. Karina Muñiz will share her experience in photographing the harsh realities of deadly border policies, and Christian Ramirez will explain how you can join the growing resistance that strives for a society that supports the rights and dignity of all people. For more info: 619/702-5411 (Chicano Perk) or 619/233-4114 (AFSC). 6-9 pm at Chicano Perk: Cafe y Cultura 129 25th Street (@Imperial),
