Joe recently wrote on San Diego Blog about Rodger Hedgecock’s new moblog.
Hedgecock is a local AM conservative radio pundit. He’s San Diego’s very own Rush Limbaugh. He’s also our ex-mayor and, in a long tradition of San Diego politicians, an ex-convict. Obviously he’s no hero of mine and I made that clear in my comment. Still, I was curious as to what kind of listeners tuned into Hedgecock’s show and so I checked out the site. Mostly it’s smut … funny smut (see the picture above) but there are also some self-portraits. How many people of color have sent in their picture to Roger Hedgecock’s Moblog? That’s right: 0.
I have stopped listening to Hedgecock’s show because it is filled with hate and lacks anything remotely intelligent, but don’t trust me, tune into AM 600 from 3 pm to 6 pm Monday through Friday.

To get a good historical sense of Hedgecock’s background and who funds his right agenda–check out Mike Davis’ essay “The Next Little Dollar: The Private Governments of San Diego.” in the book Under the Perfect Sun: The San Diego Tourists Never See (New Press, 2003) it also contains essays by Kelly Mayhew and Jim Miller mapping out Rebellion and Repression in San Diego and marginal histories.
This book is a must for all San Diegans, buy them for b-days, christmas, loss of virginity, graduation, give them to new born babies, immigrants, soldiers, policeman on the streets (maybe not this one–knowing SD police you might get a nightstick upside the hide)
