Sparsh just got back from Peru and Bolivia. While visiting Macchu Picchu he was atacked by this fierce Alpaca.
Peru always has something up her sleeves for you. When Emily and I arrived in 2001 we were so impressed with the country, its people, and landscape that we extended our time there by two weeks. In those two weeks I was mugged at knife point (dagger point really) by two gangsters in a family park in broad daylight, Emily became deathly ill, and then just before taking off for Chile, I got Giardia. Needless to say, we didn’t leave the country quite as charmed as when we had arrived. A charging alpaca though … that would’ve been the last straw.

My fiancĂ© and I are going to be in Peru for 3 weeks in December. I can’t wait, been wanting to visit Peru for a long time. Any tips? We are probably going to do the standard Ica/Nazca, Arequipa/Colca, Cusco/Inca Trail.
My parents took a cruise to Alaska and brought me back an alpaca sweater. Because one goes to Alaska to buy products ostensibly from Peru.
I have alpaca socks. They make my feet smell.
My sister was in Peru this spring, and she brought back a small painting of two men working in a field. She gave it to me for graduation because “you know, you like… like ethnic people and labor and stuff.”
Antonia,
I hope your sister was implying that you were interested in studying labor … not partaking. Otherwise that would be a funny one.
Just kidding luv.
I was charged by ducks while loitering near a man-made lake in Buenos Aires, circa 1971. Seems so much less exotic, though probably as dangerous :-}
Yeah, I was charged by geese once. It wasn’t pretty.
