Sauntering - Sauntering. That, above all else, is this bear's favorite pastime. Sin duda. If I visit your 'hood and you ask me what I'd like to do, be prepared; 'let's saunter' will be my answer. I know what you're thinking: Sauntering? Oso, what kind of psuedo-poetic bullshit is that? We call it walking. ... - #

wow, you really like girls in short skirts huh
Who doesn’t?
Yes, I do like girls in short skirts. A lot. But that really wasn’t what I was trying to convey. Those pictures in that collage were probably about 15 (some taken by ally, Odie) of about 50 that I could have put up. 50 pictures of girls gone wild and the shirtless guys in pursuit.
PB block party is surreal. Everyone is white. They are tall and slender. Perfect bodies. Tattoos. The guys have six packs. It’s the hyper-consolidation of San Diego beach culture and after a little while you get numb to it all. After a while it begins to seem ridiculous, kitsch.
The girlfriend got a little perturbed about the photo collage. She said it made me look like just another typical PB guy drinking his 40: “hu, hu, dude … check out all these hot chicks.”
But more than anything I was trying to convey the energy of PB Block Party. Which - as anyone who has been will tell you - is straight up about sex. If you want pretty, artsy pictures, check out Karen’s photography but you won’t get any sense of the 20 year old sexual anxiety that pervades the air. You won’t see the three blondes in high heels, arms locked in arms, stumbling drunk down the street at two in the morning. You won’t see the steroided ex-marines hanging out of their black jeeps whistling at them. You won’t see the guy in the aviator glasses trying to get everyone at the house party to shout in unison “we killed the keg, we killed the keg.” Or the 16 year old who should be studying for her math test on Monday buy instead is puking into a toilet at a house’s never been to after losing her virginity to a 24 year old man she has never met.
That is what PB block party is all about. It is about showing off the body that you have been working on all spring and then drinking enough that it doesn’t really matter who you wake up next to.
If you don’t believe me: more and more.

ahem. i attempted to take pictures of those girls as well. i just wasn’t so successful. I also had the “play” theme in mind which made me take a lot more pictures of the rides. while i agree with your assessment of what the pb block party is about for most parties involved, there were many children there and many half-naked men as well. since your collection only features the women (and i can understand why), i don’t know that it shows “all” of what the block party is about. where are all the men showing their bodies?

PB block party is basically a white trash event. But then again PB is a white trash town.
