Jose Ole’s Office

I have successfully managed to hack into this system after Oso tried to block me from posting. Nice try, Oso. Nice try indeed.

I am just going to cut straight to the chase. “The Office” might quite possibly be the greatest tv show ever. I spent this weekend with my main squeeze Priya watching season 2 (which came out on dvd last week, only $19.99 at best buy!). Every time I watch an episode I’m reminded how great it is. I don’t know if any of you have seen this show, but this is the deal: It’s a British tv show, a fake documentary (a “mockumentary” if you will) about daily life in the office of a paper company. The shows creators decided to end the show after two seasons, 6 episodes per season. And let me tell you, each one of those 12 episodes is SOLID GOLD. I dont know any other show where you can say that about every single episode.

The show ended a year or two ago, but of course as always, us here in the USA didn’t get it until it had already ended in the UK. Both seasons are now out on DVD, however the two-episode series finale is still unavailable in the USA except for downloading it.

The acting/directing/writing is absolutely brilliant. I have often debated writing my thesis “Post-Modern Western Culture as explored by ‘The Office’” but then I remember that I’m no longer in school and have nothing to write a thesis for. But trust me on this one, Moreno-heads, I would receive my doctorate quicker than you could say “mockery of the educational system.”
Ricky Gervais (the co-creator/writer/director/protagonist) is a bonafide Genius, and I don’t throw that term around lightly. He has secured his place in Comedy history with the other greats.
So if you havent seen it yet, youre a fool…a damn fool. This show won’t change your life, but it will stabilize the Middle East, eliminate nuclear proliferation, and reduce global warming by 45% over the next six years. Watch the show, it’s the least you can do.

I work in a giant freezer. It’s called Inland Cold Storage. We have a giant freezer full of shitty frozen mexican food. Trucks come to pick it up and drop it off. For some reason, the company has decided that the perfect music to listen to while loading 150 cases of Jose Ole Shredded Beef Taquitos is Coast 103.5 . For those of you who aren’t local, this radio station specializes in playing non-offensive familiar tunes to help your day go by, and “Love Songs on the Coast” at night. In short, this radio station is horrible. It’s bad enough these workers have to spend 2 hours non-stop in a giant freezer with -10 degree temperature, but throw Celine Dion, Bette Midler, Brian Adams, and Chicago into the mix and you have a downright violation of workers’ rights. Pray for these poor souls.

I watch the workers go in and out of the freezer and I think to myself that this is the bottom of the bottom. I don’t know if there’s any worse work out there. There is one worker here, Pedro, who comes out of the freezer with large icicles of frozen mucus hanging off his moustache. Today one worker was telling me how his feet no longer hurt when they go numb, he just doesn’t think about it anymore. I hope you all think of that next time you’re biting into your Jose Ole Chili Cheese Burrito…that is if you’re fool enough to buy that shit in the first place.

Well now I must go, I’m currently in the middle of writing my proposal for “‘The Office’ Screening Day” to be held bi-monthly. I hope to have all the workers in the warm conference room on the first and third Tuesday of each month watching episode after episode of ‘The Office’ while we laugh all our troubles away. We’ll start from episode 1 and work our way to the end of the series. I’ll field any questions the workers might have about the show, it’s creators, shooting locations, etc. I hope to submit it to my bosses tomorrow. Wish me luck.
