I’m very excited about two upcoming San Diego shows: the first is Friday, March 12th at the Casbah where Elefant will be playing with local band Channing Cope as well as a band from my high school, Roots of Orchis.

Big ups to Revaz for introducing me to Elefant. Their 2003 self-entitled album was my favorite of last year. After taking a look around their website I was impressed by their journal section which reveals (for image or otherwise) a down-to-earth band having a lot of fun touring the country for the first time and playing ever growing shows. Here’s an excerpt from when the band was in Park City, Utah:

January 19th - Park City, Utah
Hello all, Park City is a very dirty place. I know that may come as a surprise to you but let me explain. On the flight out I caught some type of cold, which is very annoying. When we finally made it to the meeting place to get the key to our condo in Park City I was desperatly wanting to get something to eat. So, we went to a little pizza/pasta type place which was fine except for the loo. The most disgusting ladies restroom with overflowing nastiness that no human could stand to look at much less use and a men’s restroom with a quarter inch of urine and paper towels on the floor but alas the night was just beginning. So we left that place to go to the condo only to find the condo a wreck. The sink full of dishes, the beds unmade and sandy and god knows what else, and no clean towels. We check the guest list and find the culprit for such filth was none other than Perry Farrell one of my foremost influences. So I am doing Perry’s dishes and cursing all the melon seeds and old turkey and mueslix wishing he could have left us a fire instead of a half-fucked melon. Oh well, all in the name of rock and roll. I can’t wait to play tonight I am so bored. xoxo, JJB
